Kristi Noem’s podium at DHS is just a straight up Nazi slogan "One of ours, all of yours" was a Nazi policy made when an SS officer was killed in a Czech Village and then the Nazis killed every single resident of that village in response…..but don’t you dare call them Nazis….not even hiding it

A Black man named Keith Porter was shot and killed by an ICE officer on New Year’s Eve. Marimar Martinez was shot five times by an ICE officer in Chicago who went on to brag about leaving seven holes in her body. This is not new but it is expanding.

I can't get my thoughts together for a proper year-end thing really. I loved seeing Khanate live (with Mick Barr opening). I listened to the fuck out of that new Rafael Toral album. I really loved watching Severance and Common Side Effects. I loved One Battle After Another. I'm grateful to be alive.

This is a quality compilation for a great org! It has that kind of sequencing where nothing alike is adjacent, you're always getting sent off in a different direction with every +1 on the track count. Very glad to be introduced to the unfamiliar names here, Crying Laughing is one to watch!

The idea of politics as a pendulum is very facile and soothing, and isn't credible. HAVING SAID THAT I sometimes find comfort in the idea that these motherfuckers are winding the pendulum wayyyy up right now so maybe when they're overthrown we'll get free healthcare, I don't know

Reflecting again on how John Cale’s piano playing on Nick Drake’s “Northern Sky” is one of the single most moving things I’ve ever heard, and also how it's like the thirtieth most historical thing to occur over the course of his career in music. A remarkably passionate oracle. Truly no one like him.

A few months ago a friend of mine challenged me to think about the ways in which political music could be uplifting as well as critical. I went for a long walk and listened to The Harder They Come; it was a profound experience. Eternal gratitude to Jimmy Cliff. RIP.
