I realize many people don’t quite get that not every single professor in every single university teaches computer science and might actually be trained in and invested in teaching other things, like let’s say, history? Or poetry. Or sociology. It is not our job to teach students how to use AI.

There's a lot that follows from the ways that the system selects for stupid people for positions of governing authority and promotes stupidity among people in such positions. Not the most important part but maybe the most annoying part is how much of life is made tedious and exhausting as a result.

I agree with this and the thread but I also don't think institutional political actors are working in primarily evidence-based ways such that action moving forward follows from view of the present. I think view of the present is often something used as a resource in service of a course of action.

I’m grateful that action is being taken to address yesterday’s violence at 26 Federal Plaza. When we insistently bear witness, there are limits to the cruelty people will support. Even Trump’s ICE can’t escape that indefinitely.

Not to put too fine a point on it but the 'less lethal' ammunition they're shooting can kill people, blind people, it's very dangerous stuff. If a civilian were to use such stuff on another civilian they'd go to prison.
