How are human brain regions connected? Are the connecting axons thicker and more myelinated the longer these connecting fibers are? In our recent paper we find that indeed, they are! Read the skeetorial below ⬇️⬇️⬇️

My undergrad Inword got some really cool data this week, and I can't think of a better way to celebrate

than to share it. She injected oligomeric amyloid-B (red) and it caused these pulses of tracer leakage throughout the brain (turquoise) 1.5 days later.

1-2μm/°C is a good 'rule of thumb' for the axial shift of the focal plane of an objective with temperature, or ~1-2 depths of field (DOF) at high numerical aperture. -> Here's a typical lab trace with a swing of 1-2°C over 1-2h. This is ~1-4 DOF of drift per hour! So continuous autofocus is needed!
