at one point, i watched a cook county sheriff’s officer (who appears to be in charge) point out a priest in the crowd. he and a couple officers then went into the crowd , dragged him into the street, and arrested him. situation is still tense as crowd jostles with police to get into the street.

This is a good question. Reuters reports Trump admin has hired 50,000 workers, primarily in immigration enforcement. For context, that's equivalent to the total number of job losses in Health & Human Services, Veterans Affairs, USAID and Interior COMBINED, per the Partnership for Public Service

There's a lot we have not visualized in a useful way. One of the big ones is the SHIFT in govt employment from "people who cure cancer" and "people who make sure your Social Security comes on time" and "people who care for veterans" to "people who kidnap your neighbors."

Note: A lot of people keep asking why the docs released the other day weren't released under Biden. The short answer is 1) alleged ongoing investigation/prosecution, 2) scope 3) Privacy Act and 4) CVRA, which mandates that victims hear from DOJ. It matters that DOJ is ignoring the latter.
