"Niles, we're lost. That's the fourth time we've passed by the pile of frankly rather tasteless sheraton armchairs." "Yes, the style clashes with the yellow wallpaper and endless billowing void. Then again, feng shui might fail to accommodate an open floor plan this... er, OPEN"

creating a Voight-Kampf test but for YouTubers. you're walking in the desert and you see a Pixar movie lying on the ground. and no one's made a video essay claiming that it's about capitalism. but you don't pick up the DVD. why is that?

apparently Obsession is the first movie since E.T. to improve its box office haul on its second and then third weekend (pause for dramatic effect.) E.T. was 1982!!

I do love how Scorsese is so much chiller than both hurt Marvel fans and the snobbiest cinephiles imagine him to be. He's just like yeah I love A24 horror films and acting in goofy TikToks with my daughter, heck I'll voice a Star Wars alien and pose on Charli xcx’s new album cover, why not

This kind of beautiful production design is why I still champion the 2004 film. Honestly the 2017 series disappointed me partially because its sets just didn't live up to the quality of this film.

Seeing a "Bonnie & Clyde killing the lavish Hollywood roadshow musical" sort of moment right now—Young moviegoers are voting w/their dollars & making it pretty clear the same old formulaic franchise stuff no longer holds their interest. Avengers: Doomsday gonna be Hello, Dolly! x Paint Your Wagon.

I presumed Grogu would fall into second place on the second weekend because of Backrooms but I did not forecast it would come in third because of another youth-appeal horror movie with legs. Things are changing

Between the box office performance of Obsession and Backrooms (as well as several other recent films), it feels like something about American moviegoing tastes and habits are shifting very quickly in a way for which most of the people with the money to finance movies are completely unprepared.

Been playing the new James Bond game, First Light. The new Bond in this game, Patrick Gibson (31) is nearly the same age as Sean Connery (32) was when he first played Bond in 1962. A great example of how babyfaced younger people seemingly are now.

But it did not make Star Wars Great alone, Marcia Lucas did not make the music for the film, she didn't make the props and visual effects for the film, she did not write the script for the film, she didn't play the characters for the film, she didn't fucking DIRECT the film.

Let me get things straight, Marcia Lucas wasn't the only editor on Star Wars, Shout out to Paul Hirsch and Richard Chew. But even if she WAS the only editor on Star Wars, editing alone did not make Star Wars Great. it definitely improved it, i'm not doubting or questioning that.

I wasn't going to post this because i felt it was disrespectful to the recently dead Marcia Lucas, however after seeing a post with over 3 thousand likes i decided screw it and do it anyways because in my opinion saying Marcia Lucas "saved" Star Wars is even more disrespectful.

George Lucas didn't do the original edit himself. That was John Jympson, who was fired and replaced with the trio of Marcia, Paul, and Richard because George didn't like what he did with it.

Marcia herself spoke against this narrative so its extra sad people are still saying this even after shes died. You can celebrate her work and legacy without spreading debunked lies from youtubers. Please read any of the many many books about the making of Star Wars I'm begging you

RIP Marcia Lucas. It's a pity that her legacy is being used to spread misinformation that does no credit to her true contributions, neglects to mention the many other films she worked on, and disrespects her own words and intentions on top of it all. But she was an icon of '70s cinema.

I love Obsession being this huge hit because it shatters every preconceived notion about modern box office success: didn't take hundreds of millions of dollars to make, no famous stars, no IPs attached, made by an unproven filmmaker, not for children.

Watching Spring Breakers for the first time fairly recently was such a treat because moments like this felt like a rush of nostalgia, instead of embarrassment about the recent past if I'd seen it sooner. I was listening to Skrillex and watching MLP at the same time as the characters in the movie!

At last, a modern day "Poltergeist/McCabe and Mrs. Miller/The Thing was actually directed by Spielberg/Beatty/Hawks" rumor! And it's still just as shitty and disrespectful to the actual directors of these movies!
