Guys there is not a super-secret epidemic of e-bike fatalities. The 2,000 lb vehicles going 40mph pose a greater threat to pedestrians than the 100lb vehicles going 20mph!

Portland should require AV companies to publicly share this kind of data as part of the upcoming rulemaking. It would be enlightening to see if AVs also use greenways more than other local streets. (They shouldn’t, greenways are not for cars.)

I recorded this today, in Portland, Oregon, at a huge march to the ICE facility in SW. The crowd was full of cyclists who had ridden there in memory of Alex Pretti; members of several labor unions; and ordinary citizens of every age, including this little girl. So of course ICE deployed tear gas.

The testimony submitted to the Oregon v Trump case includes a September 21 email by Portland Police Bureau Sergeant Andrew Braun describing the behavior of three right-wing "counterprotestors": Rhein Amacher, Chelly Bouferrache, and Katie Daviscourt.

I think about this sometimes. In San Francisco I took transit a lot, but here we mostly only take it to go downtown, and not even always for that. Medical appointments that take 15 min on a bike would take 30 minimum on transit (26 of which are walking!), or 42 min to minimize walking to 5 minutes.

I was sent this by a Georgian this morning. 2025 premiums vs 2026 premiums for someone making $65k a year. Republicans in Washington did this. This is what I'm fighting to stop. This is what’s at stake in this shutdown fight.

A 90,000 CHF fine for going about 16 mph over the speed limit. Anything 15mph or more over the limit in urban areas can draw a fine + 3 months of loss of license. Time for income-based fines in the US (and for any speeding to be ticketable!).
