This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

When Border Patrol shot two immigrants in Portland, they claimed they had ties to gangs. The Guardian later wrote a story exposing those claims as a smear campaign, but the narrative was regurgitated by city leadership that took DHS at their word. Now we see the true agitators in Eugene were DHS.

Remind me who the rioters are again? Electeds, police chiefs, etc need to stop taking DHS at their word. They lie!!

In Boston ICE randomly pulled over this huge white Irish guy with a Mass drivers license, 20 years in the states, legal status, pending green card and have held him for 5 months, his citizen wife paid a $4k bond that was ignored(!) ICE forged his signature on deportation agreement, no appeal

As someone who was there it was clear that ICE intended to fire teargas on the labor march, directing shots over the heads of those closest to the building and firing munitions directly at the crowd. They even chose munitions that would have the widest possible effect.

ICE told nurses this Minneapolis man “purposefully ran headfirst into a brick wall.” What actually happened is that they pulled him from a car, beat him so viciously with a steel baton that he had 8 skull fractures, 5 life-threatening brain hemorrhages, and couldn’t remember he had a daughter.

Grateful to The Guardian for asking local reporters to contribute to stories like this. With all eyes on Minneapolis, cities across the US, including in Oregon, are still feeling the impacts of Trump’s cruel deportation machine. “We can’t simply make them all fearful to engage.”

AWFUL news tonight. This blesses the “mandatory” detention in the 5th Circuit without bond (and little chance at habeas) of every undocumented immigrant who originally entered across the border, no matter how many decades in the past. Today, 31 unions & labor organizations representing over 130,000 workers in Portland and OR sent a letter to @mayorkwilson.bsky.social & District Attorney Vasquez demanding that they enforce the law and get justice for the children, elderly, & working people tear gassed by ICE on 1/31.

At the City Club event last night a room of about 150 people, majority white, majority middle aged, clapped when I said if the police legally can’t protect us against federal agents they shouldn’t get more money.

Man I fucking hate a bully. My blood is boiling watching the videos of kids, families, and union members getting gassed by ICE.

We are at a crossroads. The Police Union can choose to stand with Portlanders, to stand against fascism, or they can continue to obstruct policies that would reign the feds in because they see a kinship with corrupt law enforcement and not with the good people of our city. There is a choice here.

It’s worth noting that this march was during the day and was entirely peaceful. It’s also worth noting that by and large, the protests that endure police violence under the cover of night are also entirely peaceful.

The current Portland City Councilors who are endorsed by the police union are: Smith (D1), Ryan (D2), Novick (D3), Zimmerman (D4), Clark (D4) Listing them because the Portland Police Association is making it a fight to have a masking ban (for law enforcement) and a tear gas ban.

Mayor Wilson has now indicated he will expedite the rule making process for the Detention Facility Impact Fee. I am grateful for that. We also need District Attorney Nathan Vasquez to outline how he plans to hold ICE agents accountable for the unlawful use of tear gas against a group of families.
