Do you like Huey Lewis and The News? Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism.

Portland has just enough NE here to fuel demand for pizza and bagels and make business owners spend years honing the craft. However, there aren't enough expats here to make or break a place. If you're making Italian beef, brats, or tavern pies, however, Chicagoland folks determine your fate.

Can you imagine OPB, or any other media outlet really, publishing an article where random people in Portland offer their opinions on, say, Roseburg or Springfield?

Irresponsible reporting. "Let's ask these rural, blatantly conservative residents, all over the age of 55 and some living hundreds of miles from Portland, what they think!"

Good to see RAJ Sports making noise in the Trail Blazers sale negotiations. With the initial discussion around new Blazers ownership and a potential new arena treating the WNBA's Fire like a nonentity, it's a reminder that the Blazers won't be the only tenant of a building they no longer own.

Again, when discussing the future of the Moda Center, it would be nice if Portland's alleged outlet of record would acknowledge that there are two tenants with deep-pocketed ownership who'd likely want a say in it: www.oregonlive.com/blazers/2025...

Really kind of love this. The Bhathal family was never on the inside of Oregon sports, never had strong ties to the old network, didn't have a seat at that old boy's table until their purchase of BOTH the Thorns and WNBA Portland made them impossible to ignore. Now the Blazers? Love to see it.

While Phil Knight would have been nice, Portland already proved it could attract deep-pocketed NBA ownership that's committed to the city and deeply invested in its communities. Granted, it's the Sacramento Kings ownership, but they do like the place.

Let's see what old Portland sports money wants more: Legacy NBA basketball or a theoretical MLB team.

Getting some mixed messages about just how badly the local sports booster organization actually wants people to absorb sports in Oregon.

Going to pass on the invitation from people in Beaverton to paint over tags and burners in Portland.

One take on the recent influx of Portland chains to Beaverton: "Portland downturn and suburbanites desire to eat closer to home and not venture into Portland has clearly helped them out as well." Another: Ask Magna, Pip's, and Big's which city has held up its end of the foot-traffic bargain.

The University of Oregon softball team currently sits at No. 6 in the country and has won its last five games. Oregon baseball was No. 10 in the country before dropping a series to last-place Ohio State this weekend. Which one did the state's sports page of record lead with, and why?

The skepticism in the comments below doesn't come from "not reading the article." It stems from the realization that MLS, the NWSL, and the WNBA all came to Portland without shoveling tax revenue at them. It also sees markets Portland's size or greater willing to let teams walk rather than pay.
