With this ruling, the birthright issue is not going away. The right hasn't really begun *organizing* around getting rid of the citizenship clause. Like Roe, this will be their fight for a generation. And if the Democrats just say "we won" and ignore it, like Roe, the Republicans will eventually win.

My other take is that bike routes should have priority over minimized distance vs cars. Going a block or two out of your way in a car is not the same on the body as going a block or two out of your way in a car.

Contra to PCEF's founding model, I do think transportation decarbonization is going to have to be led by the City and TriMet since they control that infrastructure most directly. Shifting mode share for all trips to walking/rolling/and transit has to be priority #1 in that regard.

After these upsets in Washington County against establishment backed Dems, I nominate these two as next in line. Both have and will continue to be roadblocks for the revenue reform we need to fund working class programs like universal child care and school meals for all.

This is one reason I find the idea that the safety net for the elderly comes at the cost of the safety net for everyone else to be crazy. In the absence of sufficient income support and LTSS options, family steps in. And it is usually women who pay the price.

If Oregon policymakers are serious about addressing cost-of-living concerns and ensuring Oregon is an affordable place for all to live, we simply must invest a transportation system that provides alternatives to car dependency. #orleg

"Yes, building less dangerous cars and more forgiving roads would help address the USās sky-high tally of roadway fatalities. But another way to save lives deserves far more attention than it gets: Stop forcing Americans to drive so much."

The US Is Counting Traffic Deaths Wrong
By emphasizing the number of people killed per mile rather than deaths per capita, traffic safety groups risk normalizing the factors that make American roads so deadly.

Portlanders voted overwhelmingly for universal preschool for families in our county. Our state legislature is trying to kill it. Is this Oregon or is this Texas?

Our worst fears were true. They want to kill Preschool for All, and would rather not deal with the inconvenience of public opinion. No public hearing. This would eliminate the PFA tax by July 2027 and force PFA to meet DELC standards (which are lower than PFA standards - not full day or full week).

Safe streets and great transit are the basis of a functioning transportation system. I believe Oregon can make that happen this year, but only if you get activated in the next two weeks. Please read our op-ed, then sign this petition š
