And I’m listening to an ORLEG hearing where the head of DMV workers union said that a DMV near Portland saw such a big increase in customers after nearby DMV offices closed that they need a special crowd control permit from the local fire dept. But yeah… “No new taxes!”

Really hoping leaders and PCEF folks can negotiate a W with the Blazers funding thing. If we end up holding our nose & bailing out a billionaire, the $$ better have strong mandates to transform Rose Quarter area into a much less car-centric hellhole. Can Albina Vision Trust step in here?

exactly. This is similar to my post yesterday about NPR calling current R and D debates as "deeply divided" as if this is just some interesting contest of ideas and not one side doing fascism and the other side trying to stop it. This isn't politics as usual, so it shouldn't be coverage as usual!!

One thing you’ll never see from @bikeportland.org is this type of clickbait headline where they don’t reveal the most important part of the story. (And maybe that’s why they make $$ and I don’t. lol. 😂😂😂)

See how this headline reduces fascism by one side to an issue where both sides are “deeply divided”? NPR isn’t federally funded anymore. I keep waiting for them to get more direct in framing what Trump admin is doing.

This is for South of Powell and PBOT says it'll be built in 2028. They've also announced a planning study for similar treatments north of Powell. LFG.

Just off a call w Jeffrey Tumlin, who was the Director of Transportation of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency 2019-2024... when robotaxis came to town. He says Oregon is at risk of copying CA's failure by letting Waymo come in w/o local regulations. HB 4085 is really bad folks!!

Waymo wants to operate in Portland. This AV bill being pushed by the legislature, HB 4085, has 8 sponsors. None of them represent Portland. City of Portland opposes the bill. Tell me again why it's time for this bill?

Very unfortunate Nextdoor post from Dem Oregon House Rep. Travis Nelson (N/NE Portland). Doing the classic "No one told me about it!" schtick on the N Willamette Blvd project, then when folks called him out on it, he says it was just an innocent post to gauge opinion.

See, the thing is... when you have a history of walking out of the capitol when you don't get your way and holding the legislative process hostage to your whims, you sort of lose the high ground when it comes to political stunt allegations 😂

Waymo is owned by Google's parent company. In the past few months, Google's lobbying firm has given thousands of dollars to key Oregon lawmakers, including two members of the committee where the bill is being considered.

So the leading Dem just comes out and admits that moving the vote on the transportation funding referendum from November to May is political. I like the honesty, but doesn't look good in terms of Dem messaging coordination (everyone else, including Governor, saying it's for funding clarity).

Just experienced the most intense tear gassing of my life by federal officers outside the ICE facility in Portland where marchers gathered. There was no fast exit as they indiscriminately threw loads of gas and flash bangs. Children were in the crowd screaming. @oregoncapitalchronicle.com
