Atlanta's MARTA Breeze Card is now available in Apple Wallet, after launching on Google Wallet and Samsung Wallet earlier this month. Makes the fact that Seattle's ORCA card is available on Apple Wallet, and the story that it's Apple's fault, even stranger.

My family is coming to visit over the summer and my sister-in-law is wondering if there are any run clubs she’d be able to join for a few weeks? (In or within a reasonable distance of N Portland would be ideal).

At the Central City Code Amendments Project hearing. I really dislike this new bonus that would increase FAR for buildings with family-sized units. With no commensurate increase in heights, it’s just going to create deep floorplates and dark units.

Per the article, occupancy rates at Portland hotels are down from 2019 and we'd need around 1,400 more rooms/night booked to get back. But we've added roughly that number of rooms since 2019—so the challenge isn't returning to 2019, it's exceeding it.

Many have described Portland's post-Charter Reform system as "weak mayor", and I think it's increasingly clear that's wrong. Not only does the mayor now have control over all bureaus, a lot of items that would have previously gone to council no long do.

Duolingo has introduced a type of lesson that is annoyingly like the fake 30 Rock show “Homonym”. It asks you translate a word with no context, and it’s very easy to get wrong if you don’t correctly guess which meaning of the word in English it’s thinking of.

The corporate activity tax is a really bad tax. It really penalizes businesses that have a lot of pass through income (to take an example I’m familiar with: architecture firms usually hire the structural engineer for a project; CAT makes it such that they’d be better off not doing so.)
