Portlanders overwhelmingly passed charter reform because they were tired of business as usual. To be clear: I'm committed to building a more representative, more effective Council that works for East Portland - not a few well-connected individuals used to getting their way in City Hall.

This reporting matters. Portlanders deserve transparency about how power is exercised behind the scenes at City Hall—& who is influencing decisions that affect our city. I was sent here by working people in East PDX who are tired of being shut out of their own govt. I’m determined to change that.

It's hard to rejoice something like Kristi Noem "getting fired" when she's just failing upward into a new job and the dude replacing her will be no different and most likely will be worse. Hooray, I guess. I will not celebrate truly until they're all gone!!!

To East Portland: I am disappointed that we couldn't get these dollars out the door. As the daughter of immigrants and the representative of Portland's largest and most diverse immigrant communities, this has been a deeply personal process for me.

Thank you to my colleagues for overwhelmingly supporting my amendment to restore a $15 million PCEF investment in affordable housing.

This George Floyd resolution is a commemorative resolution. It’s about memory. It’s about naming what happened and putting on the public record that his murder sparked a global movement for racial justice in four cities, including Portland, to reckon with police accountability and systemic racism.

The Affordable Housing Opportunities Project addresses a clear problem. Nonprofit and public housing providers already own land intended for affordable housing, but existing zoning creates unnecessary barriers and delays.

Yesterday, council unanimously voted to adopt our resolution to commemorate the life of George Floyd and reaffirm our City’s commitment to racial justice.

Reminder: you have until March 13 to fill out my budget survey! More than 200 East Portlanders have already let me know their budget priorities. Our top three neighborhoods represented so far are Hazelwood, Pleasant Valley, and Powellhurst-Gilbert!

Hey Portland: this coming Thursday, March 5, we’ll be having a work session on the unbudgeted housing funds. We know that there have been a lot of questions about the close to $106 million that’s been discovered, and we hope this work session will help answer most of them.
