Changing the name of my staff meeting to Project Oversight “Top city officials have held a weekly “Project Mt. Hood” meeting since at least early November focused on a taxpayer funded renovation of the Moda Center, currently estimated at $600 million, according to a review of public calendars.”

Portland officials have been using this monumental code name to discuss Trail Blazers arena project
The name reflects the scale and significance of the Moda Center to Portland, a city spokesperson said, as officials work to finalize public funding.

Not doing just a bit here: my office will be moving forward with some oversight on this. Here’s why: fundamentally, we changed our form of government to move away from backroom dealing on matters of public interest. Using code names for recurring meetings like this runs counter to transparency.

@mitchgreen.bsky.social
! In his time in office, Mitch has thoroughly debunked the myth that free preschool forces rich people to leave. As an economist he knows that young families are worth investing in! 🌱💰💛 📢 LET'S GET MITCH REELECTED!✨

Substance Over Vibes
We sat down with two elected officials who are both doing real work — and both facing those who would rather traffic in vibes than engage with substance.

Oh no
@mitchgreen.bsky.social
has my phone number and he's texting me asking for more money (meager donation sent). Going to have to work out the details on the quid pro quo. I'm thinking a cushy diplomatic post.

I'm running for council because I'm tired of the cynics who spend their time tearing Portland down, while kicking real solutions to our problems down the road. My goal is to get 100 new small donors to my campaign by the end of the week. Can you help?

Portland is at a crossroads. The policy decisions we make now will define this city for a generation. We have an opportunity to keep building for the abundance agenda, instead of slipping into retrenchment. Will you fight with me?

And there it is! Fees, waived. Took less than a week from the first wweek report. Note to council candidates: this a good subject area for oversight hearings in the new govt. Are *fees* doing anything to balance tree canopy and safety?
