In the week since Mayor Wilson began enforcing the public camping ban, we are seeing MORE tents in East Portland. Those folks are just being swept into my district. I told the mayor that this is what would happen and asked him to bring extra resources to East PDX to meet the displaced. He did not.

Increased ICE activity in North Portland today has led Portland Public Schools to lock exterior doors at César Chávez School and George Middle School, along with other protective measures. Other North Portland schools are monitoring the situation closely.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. I was honored to bring a recognition to council this morning. Breast cancer isn't the death sentence it was decades ago, but if folks can't access screening, prevention, or treatment, it doesn't matter how much the science has advanced. Go get screened!

Thanks to @mayorkwilson.bsky.social for being responsive to Council about extending parking hours to 7-10 PM. This negatively affects our economy (example: @councilordunphy.bsky.social noted its impact on musicians). Other than event districts, starting 10/15 we're going back to 7 PM free parking.

Participated in the Governor's Multifamily #Housing Workgroup on permitting and development reforms yesterday. Grateful for partners bringing creative solutions. As Housing & Homelessness chair, I'm representing your interests in these spaces. Real solutions need community voices.

Same! This is a great space for a venue, and Monqui Presents is one of Portland's home-grown leaders in the music economy, so I'm thrilled that this is moving forward and can't wait to jump in the mosh pit with Councilor Zimmerman.

I'm very disappointed that my amendment to protect the Inclusive Business Network, the Office of Film and Events, and Venture Portland failed. I'm even more disappointed that Prosper Portland dishonestly scared the community to advocate against their own interests. It didn't need to be like this.

Our Prosper Portland budget amendment DOES NOT defund economic development programs or small business resources. @councilordunphy.bsky.social & I are proposing Council to direct Prosper to use its Strategic Investment Fund instead of the City’s general fund to keep their operations & programs intact

The information being shared by Prosper Portland is incorrect. Councilor Green and I are not proposing to defund the economic development activities at Prosper Portland. We are asking that they use the money from their new savings account to fully fund those programs.

It is WILD to watch a supposedly public agency spread disinformation to get a whole community worked up and protect their own bottom line. Prosper Portland is sitting on a $50m slush fund that they did not earn and want Portland to cut parks maintenance and permitting staff. Wild.
