There are many things I strongly disagree with Rand Paul on. Hell, I ran against him. That said, he is right to push back on Mitch McConnell’s effort to ban hemp products. It would crush farmers and small businesses in Kentucky and across the country. We should all stand and oppose it.

UPDATE: The news of relief is short lived, as Trump is now appealing to the Supreme Court to block the order requiring his administration to follow the law and fund SNAP. The lengths they are going to leave Americans hungry is wild. Absolutely heinous.

Good news, family! The USDA has confirmed that SNAP benefits will be fully funded for November. This came after a federal judge rejected the Trump admin’s plan to offer partial funds for food aid. Food should never be a negotiating tool, and I am glad to see the USDA work to comply with court order.

This is the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.

Hey Kentucky, I heard a lot of you tried to get out to vote yesterday. Although we don’t have elections yet, I understand how you feel. We are determined and fired up for the change we need to see, and we know it can’t wait. If you’re already inspired to vote, keep that energy. 2026 will be big.

My heart is so heavy tonight. We now know at least 7 lives were lost due to this horrific plane crash. This is an absolute tragedy.

Family, we knew this would happen. There can be no surprise that a lawless president would refuse to follow the law. Donald announced today that he will defy the courts and refuse to pay SNAP benefits during the government shutdown. This is cruel. This is criminal.

Important update on SNAP benefits!

When I look at my girls. I remember why I fight. On a day when so many children are using their imaginations to become their favorite character, a cute unicorn, bunny, or the King of Pop, my hope is that we can all find it in ourselves to do everything we can to protect their dreams for the future.

As a parent, there is no greater fear than being unable to keep your child healthy and safe. On this Halloween, those fears could be a reality for many parents. ICE continues to terrorize indiscriminately, healthcare costs are set to skyrocket, and food aid is running out. Scary times indeed.

Trump and the USDA know very well why the funds exist, and that they were appropriated for a time such as this. The cruelty isn’t a bug, it’s a main feature. Thank you, Sen. Warnock.

In July of last year, Sonya Massey called 911 because she was afraid of a possible intruder. When law enforcement arrived, they treated her like the threat instead of the person who asked them for help. Afraid, she called out on the name of Jesus. The deputy then shot her.

The White House is building a massive ballroom for fancy dinners with the ultra wealthy and elite, while millions of families across the country are preparing to lose aid for food they need to survive. A damning reminder that these big money politicians really don’t care about regular people.

In the last 36 hrs, there were mass shootings at a party in North Carolina, a homecoming event at Lincoln Univ. in PA, and another homecoming event near Howard Univ. in D.C. There have been more mass shootings than days in the year. Sending love to families grieving the unspeakable right now.

Take a moment to process this. The three wealthiest people in our country have more wealth than over 170 million Americans combined. The same politicians beholden to the mega wealthy want you to believe that providing food assistance for children, seniors, and struggling families is the problem.

Stopping SNAP benefits just in time for the holidays is absolute cruelty.

This morning, my spirit is resolved, but my heart is heavy. The images of the East Wing of White House being torn down by Trump’s wrecking crew in order to construct a 90,000 square foot vanity room is a painful reminder of where we are.

Make no mistake, this is a defining moment - for our neighborhoods, our families, and our hopes for the future. The way we stand now will tell the story. I’m going to give my all to fight by your side. We’ve got more arc bending to do. There is a spark growing in Kentucky. Keep your eyes on us.

In spite of it all, Sandy is showing up and speaking out. This shutdown isn’t a partisan discussion point, it is literally about our lives. May we all find Sandy’s courage, and lift our voices.
