in light of the kimmel news, just a reminder that a few days ago a prominent fox news host literally called for killing homeless people. right afterward, someone shot up a couple homeless encampments. that fox news host still has his job.

I’m a little stunned at how much I enjoyed the Billy Joel documentary on HBO. Five plus hours over two parts seemed absurd and by the end I was sad it was over and would gladly watched five more hours.

New Action Cookbook Newsletter! My oldest turned 10 this weekend, and that's a big milestone for him--but it's one for me, too! I've been a Dad (literal, not just spiritual) for a decade now, and I've learned a few things along the way. Here's a few.

Imagine being part of a floundering political establishment at historic lows in favorability, seeing this guy's absolutely infectuous energy, and deciding to try to stop it through an array of embarrassing media appearances and editorial blunders.

Sadly the current right-wing coalition government in Finland has cut the funding for the nation’s “Housing First” success story, & homelessness is now on the rise again. That just reinforces the fact that such programs work, if political ideology doesn’t stand in the way.

Yes, Finland had solved the homelessness problem. But then, a bunch of right wing politicians gained power and decided that they don’t want that kind of wellbeing anymore, it doesn’t fit to their idea of society.

I love that the morally and ethically correct approach to most issues is so so SO many times also the economically correct one and STILL we actively go "no we aint gonna do that" for no reason accept distaste for those less fortunate than us

I was outside for approx 12 mins this morning to drop my kids off at a summer camp. The amount of sweat that poured off of my body in that short amount of time is truly absurd and disgusting. I guess I'll go outside again in October.

Great job Louisvillians! Always exciting when good ol' public pressure earns a win. Now let's keep the momentum and get some other stuff done! LMPD and the consent decree would be a great place to start.

I've started keeping a list of things that have occurred that make me feel like I'm becoming a Boomer. Refusal to learn new technology, asking a restaurant to turn down music, etc. My phone just rang...out loud...while at a training/presentation where there were like 100 people. I'm cooked.

As someone who was formerly homeless, I wish more countries were like this. When you're homeless, it's impossible to get back on your feet without somewhere stable to live. Otherwise, you spend every moment of every day just trying to survive.

IMPORTANT: The Dutch invested €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart govts do math on investing in better mobility. Let’s be clear — it wastes public money to NOT do it.

MORE! Anderson Cooper: So it's more expensive to allow a chronically homeless person to live on the streets than it is to actually subsidize an apartment for them? Answer: Yes, we are paying more as taxpayers to walk past that person on the street & do nothing…

I'll be honest, the "End Racism" thing in the endzones was the emptiest of empty gestures for an organization that chased a Black man out of the league for protesting the police murdering Black people, and where one of the teams in the Superbowl is named the Chiefs and whose fans do a Tomahawk Chop.
