Hung a guy at Nuremburg for doing this, FYI. Not "a thing like this" but literally this, exactly.

US higher education was a crown jewel, generating knowledge, wealth, prestige, and power unrivaled by anyone. And the US is throwing it away, because Americans elected a govt ideologically opposed to truth, science, merit, and racial/gender equality, preferring to weaken the country to reduce that.

A competent opposition political party would cut together the footage of what ICE had been doing in the twin cities with Mike Johnson saying "ICE is doing what ICE is designed to do" and have it in ads all across the country

This is honestly remarkable. ICE's legitimacy has completely collapsed in less than a year and show's no signs of slowing down.

I see this take around from time to time and totally disagree. ICE just murdered a woman standing up to them. No Kings is among the largest protests in history. The complacency is coming from elites in media, business, universities, and the Democratic leadership

Lmfao what an awesome proposal. One reason you need a 90% income tax rate at this level is these guys are too stupid to have the amount of power they do. Like giving a glock to a 4 year old

My first for

: after a grueling three-year strike, workers at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette returned to work in victory. This week, the 240-year-old paper’s wealthy owners decided to shut it down.

It’s always struck me as odd how the objectives of the regime and the opposition are exactly the inverse of what they should be. The regime should *want* peaceful acquiescence to their rule, just as the Democrats should want an escalation into a situation the latter can’t control.

American conservatives will look you right in the eye with a straight face and tell you that complete and utter subservience to masked federal police is patriotism, anything else deserves being executed in the street, and tax dollars for healthcare is tyranny.

💙📚Neat twist: Pitas translated a book by the poet Marosa di Giorgio that inspired Donish’s work.

just saying: it's possible that "I'm gonna dramatically constrict my state capacity while plotting dramatic imperial expansion, and expanding my set of internal enemies while alienating most of my foreign allies" is the beginning of a world-historical masterstroke. but also possible that it isn't

My original prepped quote was going to point out that for that figure over five years you could pretty much literally have made GTA V, and all we got was a pretty crappy tailored version of a pre-existing database management program, but I worried my senior colleagues might not take me seriously.
