An elderly cat that was being taken care of by incarcerated women was sick, so they raised $11,000 for his care. Now they've established a fund to help other stray cats in their unit. I wrote about it:

Watching the ICE raids and it's like watching a homecoming video of every dumpy ass dude I grew up with in Wichita Falls (which is probably accurate bc aren't most of them from Texas). Just losers on the computer who always wanted to be in the military but not enough to actually get in shape

Not trying to be mean, but thatâs doomer mindset. Weâve fought back against the ultra rich before, and hereâs the important part, *we won.* Teddy Roosevelt busted the trusts. FDR destroyed the millionaires for a generation. We can do this, we HAVE done this, we just have to do it again.

Went to a pro women's volleyball game, and as someone who has gone to sporting events my entire life it's wild to watch live sports that's not suffused with dude aggression energy, drunk guys screaming obscenities around kids, and of course, the constant underlying right wing politics.

The message from the White House this morning is that, once again, it falls on ordinary American citizens to remain calm and professional when dealing with the heavily armed agents of the government because they are very emotional and might fly off into a murderous rage at the slightest insult.

I grew up with the same public television station and it was a cultural life vest. It felt like looking at the world's vibrance and beauty through a straw, but that made it the most important straw.

Was fortunate enough to see John Cleese and Eric Idle do a sit down in Dallas like 8 years ago and I think it was solely cause they mentioned Dallas was the first place in the states to air them

I don't think we fully understand what we're losing if public television goes away. For example, do you know which station broke Monty Python into the US in the 70s? KERA Dallas. That's the station I grew up with as a lonely kid in Wichita Falls. Invaluable.

U2 is imo the most drastic version of this, but similar to Radiohead I'd suggest Beck. There's a universe where he is a one hit wonder with Loser, and in this world twenty years later he's winning a Grammy for Album of the Year

That ability to change/adapt is their greatest strength and also the thing that made everything they did seem a little phony. I have such conflicted feelings about that band.

Great comparison with the beasties, I guess they made it through, too, from the party rap stuff to more grown up hip hop. Such a cool time to be alive, especially the 1989-92 period. Different worlds.

The most shocking transition I've ever seen a band make. If you weren't around back then, U2 was one of the biggest bands of the 80s, earnest roots rock. Classic albums. Then in 91 they were like, psych we're changing our entire sound. And it COMPLETELY WORKED

They only care about being on the side of power. Being a guy w a gun makes them feel powerful. Other guys like them w cool guns and badges are even more powerful, so they want to be on their side. Pathetic bitch behavior.
