I’ve been helping newcomers in public libraries for 20 years and these are two things I know: moving to Canada as an immigrant or refugee is a lot of paperwork and even more emotional labour. Also immigrants and refugees make our cities more interesting and excellent places.

Hey everyone, here's a little LBGTQ+ history you might not know: Have you seen this Norm MacDonald reaction meme? Have you seen it used to mean "everybody sucks here" or the equivalent? Maybe you've used it yourself? This was the night Norm MacDonald said on SNL that trans people should die.

Trans women were the most targeted among us before and they will be even more so after today—especially in the US, but this targeting could travel everywhere. If you know trans women in your local community, I would suggest asking if they feel unsafe and how you can help. Protect our sisters.

Relatedly, if you haven't been in an archives you have no idea just how much historical material is not online, not even a digital record of it. An LLM cannot research data it doesn't have. It can't even extrapolate where to find that material.
