I'm seeing an interesting generational divide in responses to the Stranger Things finale. Like most of the middle aged fans I follow here I thought they absolutely stuck the landing, but younger viewers like my 21 year old son (who liked it) have issues with the way that some subplots wrapped up.

I'm really enjoying this final season of Stranger Things, though I'm not sure how I feel about the fact that the backstory that's hinted at here can apparently only be seen in a Broadway play that I didn't know existed before now and have no way to watch.

Had a chance to watch Wake Up Dead Man last night and I absolutely loved it. I especially love how Benoit Blanc is never the protagonist of his own story, or even the POV, but a means to hold up whichever character it is we're following this time out. Fantastic writing and performances all around.

I've been replaying Horizon Zero Dawn the last few weeks, and fantastic as the worldbuilding and compelling the gameplay is, the thing that always strikes me most about the Horizon games is how stellar the writing is, even in little encounters with NPCs or texts found on random side quests.

I'm at the stage of developing a few different projects where I have to come up with all of the characters' names, which is only slightly less agonizing and time consuming than coming up with series titles. Every name sounds weird and wrong to me until I finally land on something that kinda works.

Last night I started reading the third novel in a series, but it's been long enough since I read the first two that I can't remember much about them beyond the fact that I enjoyed them, so I ended up going back and starting in on the first one again, instead. Now I've got three books to enjoy.

In the past week collaborators and I have worked out the titles of two different creator-owned projects we are developing, and there's a weird kind of alchemy that takes place when moving from a placeholder to an actual title that makes it start to feel like a real comic for the first time.
