The whole purpose of public education is to create skilled knowledgeable people to be good global citizens to build / support a strong country. We lose this, we lose our strength as a country.

A reminder - last March, republicans promised to restore $1.1B in funding to DC in exchange for funding the government, and Mike Johnson never took it up in the House.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person. The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person. People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives. And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Make the Goddamn meal and put it in your Free Fridge. Write the $100 check to the food bank. Ask your local school what they need for the kids and then go about trying to get that stuff.... Do these things regularly and you are making meaningful contributions to your communities.

There’s a district dude who just magically shows up when I need to be reminded that everything is going to be okay. I haven’t seen him since last school year - maybe March or April. He showed up today during my planning period. We talked electrician stuff. It’s going to be okay. It has to be okay.
