Bonjour mes amis! A colleague is opening a new Grade 4/5 French immersion classroom next week and isn’t sure where to find books to build her classroom library. Suggestions for places to shop are most welcome.

What a time to be alive.

Good times. Well, at least my current cohort of kids will get to spend lots of time together during indoor recess before they go to new classrooms next week.

“They want you to mourn him, but not remember him,” is something I saw posted a few times about the horrible person being sanitized and canonized today.

I play music during my recess yard duty. I bring out clipboards, paper, and pencils so kids can request songs. It’s all Kpop Demon Hunters, all the time. I should probably watch it again this afternoon to get ready for the week ahead. That’s the type of dedicated educator I am. 🙃

After much turmoil and reorganizing of classes and weighing of options, I’m excited to report that I’ll be moving from a Grade 2/3 classroom in the dungeon of my school to a Grade 3 classroom with windows and storage and enough light to keep some classroom plants alive! Happy weekend, lovelies.

I’m Iucky I was born in Canada. I’m grateful to still call it home. I’m determined to not let it slip into the darkness enveloping so much of the world. Cry harder, Pete.

I just found an old picture of the room I was in two years ago that I have the chance to move into again and now I’m pretty sure I have to move. And invest in a portable AC unit.

Tomorrow afternoon I find out my new teaching assignment. After that, we rejig all of our classes. Then we call the families of affected students - basically everyone. Next Friday we pack/move/plan to welcome our new group of students on Sept. 29 when I guess the school year starts all over again.

Another highlight of the school reorganization process this year was when one of our administrators sent the 5 teachers who have been declared surplus at our school links to TDSB resources for managing stress. “Sorry you lost your job. Have you tried colouring mandalas?”

It’s going to be hard switching to a non-American brand of cat food considering Timber is auditioning to be the brand ambassador for this one.

The question currently waking me up early is: Do I stay in the basement dungeon classroom I share with before- and after-school daycare or do I move ALL OF MY STUFF back up to the third floor of an old school with no elevator to a big classroom that is 30+°C in Sept, May, and June but is all mine?

A highlight of the school reorganization process this year was at the staffing committee meeting at lunch when a new colleague explained to a room full of teachers with approximately 250 years of combined experience in education that the board is making us reorganize for financial reasons. 🙃

My school is losing 4.5 teachers. So much upheaval that wouldn’t be necessary if school boards had sufficient funding to keep class sizes low. Instead, 5 teachers are out of work and every single classroom community is going to be shuffled after a month of school.

How to have a happy school year.

Time to log off now so I can “inform myself” about how the Libs were playing 4D chess when they gave [insert applicable adjectives here] Charlie Kirk a standing ovation in the House today. 🙃

TDSB schools get updated staffing allocations tomorrow. That means that a school like mine - where class sizes are currently lower than what was projected in May - loses teachers, collapses classrooms, and reorganizes class lists. 😳 Sending love out to everyone facing uncertainty this week.

I moved my LEGO treehouse back to a spot where I can access the light switch easily and (hopefully) remember to turn it on more often because it’s so cute and it makes me happy. Enjoy your Sunday, lovelies.

Rearranging the furniture in my house to fix my life instead of trying to find a new therapist and realizing that I spent so long thinking I needed to keep my front hall clean and minimalist that I forgot I’m allowed to make it cozy. Lots of heavy lifting on a Saturday night.

Having a hard time being productive after a particularly demoralizing day at school yesterday so we’re watching Mission Impossible 7 (Part 1) because she likes when the small running man jumps off a cliff on his motorcycle.
