The 2020s information environment is very different from the 1980s information environment. It's a logical part of any vibecession explanation. But that's different from the argument that rejects the concept of a vibecession, saying instead that consumer sentiment is all due to material conditions.

One big vibecession theory will get a test. 1980s saw higher inflation than 2020s, yet 2020s consumer sentiment has been lower. An explanation for that from vibecession skeptics is that people were more used to inflation in the 1980s. So that predicts sentiment will rise now as things get worse.

A good cautionary tale for when someone claims that trusting data analysis done with an LLM is good because it’s “objective.” In this example, Copilot apparently decided to ignore the data it was given and just run with all the subconscious biases its (human-made) training data inevitably gave it.
