Even small independent museums have an acquisitions policy. It's odd how people seem to think that because something might be old it's relevant to a museum's audience. Also that strange idea that they have limitless archival space to store everything, and staff on hand to do the paperwork.

Well, Mac, I think that's probably because at 200 decibels, sound is no longer sound, but instead becomes a shock wave. So while you *could* have an emergency siren with a hypothetical volume of 194 decibels, the loudest possible sound in the atmosphere, it would be the *cause* of the emergency.
