Working on a poem for me and ace artist Paul Digby’s Fish and Chips project.

The sun rises over Durham Cathedral. A man shouts, ‘Money for nothing!’ Two teenage boys eat steaming hot pasties. A little girl looks at me and shrugs. I walk past the old cinema and remember a film I watched there.

I am the only customer in the shop. The Sunday Bloke is sorting the papers out. There is the tiny drama of the till briefly not working. I notice how many kinds of gin there are.

What's a blackbirds favourite breakfast? Tweetabix! Boom Boom!

Early stroll. The horizon’s pale forehead. A sleeping taxi dreams of long distances, empty roads. That daffodil’s piece for solo yellow trumpet. A cat runs towards Tesco. A bike light on the hill teaches me about distance and perspective.

I’m in Barnsley which has beautiful buildings, a charming social history museum, a lovely art gallery, and this very moving memorial to the tragic colliery explosion of 1866 that killed nearly 400 men and boys

Making zines at the Civic. So much zine fun!

Just had to down tools to give my undivided attention to 'Just Friends' from the 'Charlie Parker With Strings' album played on Jools Holland's 'Earlier' show on Radio 3. Stunning improvisation melded with sympathetic orchestration. Highly recommended.
