I read my first @themillyjohnson.bsky.social book! Highly recommended. A story of strangers on a train, stranded in the snow, of different situations in life and choices to be made, directions to take. A story with warmth and humour. Milly is in store tomorrow, Sunday, from 11am - noon. #booksky

Benefits of a bookshop! First post brought two advance copies. Having read Wandering Souls, very much looking forward to Celestial Lights by Cecile Pin. Both titles due out in March. And chocolate! Courtesy of LJ Ross, had to test it purely for safety reasons of course. #booksky

First sales of the day! One a collected customer order, Finding Alfie by Michael Morpurgo. And one postal/delivery order. This is from a local writer Ronnie Steele, a collection of memories from a host of people on Kes and Ken Loach. Ordered by phone to be delivered to a local elderly relative.

This is the version of the post that everyone needs to see. And all you readers/authors despairing of non-comprehension, etc, we are gaining new fans of fantasy and SF. It might not be the fantasy or SF you personally read, but they're reading and buying where they weren't before.

Out today! Shame it wasn't on 18 November, the date that Tara finds herself 'stuck', her life (such as it is) goes on whilst all those around live the day as their first and only time. Though not quite all, as the review says book three has Tara finding she is not quite alone... #booksky

Maybe we should do a thread of reading-related injuries?! This was one of the books responsible. Apparently after walking a while if you sit reading for long enough, feet up on a chair in front of you, there is a risk of stretching your calf enough to hurt it. Hobbling day. Good book though!

It was good to attend the book launch for Calling Barnsley last night. A project by @lungtheatre.bsky.social working with all aspects of the community, collecting stories about the lives and communities of our town. The book is a collection of monologues from these tales, in store soon! #booksky
