In less than a year we've seen the entire US healthcare system get shot in the face, all of scientific research set on fire, the education system mangled, renewable energy destroyed, trans genocide become legal, etc. *Each* of these things took a few months to destroy and will take decades to fix.

Whether it's literally all federal records having been scraped by DOGE into a vibe-coded database and COBOL replaced with vibe-coded slop, or cancer research, etc, *each* of the things destroyed is something that can't possibly be fixed in a short time or easily.

Dem leadership would desperately love to move to the nazi right, embrace sex pests like Cuomo, etc, while at the same time you absolutely know they will offer only meaningless bikeshedding bullshit. Promising to paint the walls of the living room after the house has been burned to ash, basically.

You can tell by how dem leadership is treating Mamdani that this is exactly what they will do, what they yearn to do: absolutely shoot themselves even harder in the dick than the last time.

Not many people are gonna be persuaded by an attempt to look tougher on immigration than trump (which Biden and Kamala both attempted), when ICE is less popular than testicular torsion.

Basically: the dems would absolutely love to run on symbolic, ineffectual, meaningless half-measures that are fully orders and orders of magnitude less than what is required. Like when Biden promised to deliver about 0.5% of covid tests actually required, means-tested to exclude larger homes.

It is *lunacy* for the ostensibly liberal opposition party to say we shouldn't limit any individual's wealth and power after watching a cadre of fascist billionaires systematically destroy this country. That's probably the single most important thing we *must* do!
