We really don't need more vectors by which to medicalise each other's interiority. We need people to understand that not everyone is like them and that's fine. That's normal. Cis people already think that being trans is a mental illness and that we'd be better off if our delusions were treated, because they are incapable of imagining cis and trans experience as two equal ways of experiencing the world. Hell, a bunch of them think the same about not being straight.

I'm uncomfortable with psychoanalysis of where kinks/fetishes come from. I think it is bullshit and it can be actively harmful to try and analyse these things as if they are mental disorders; that implies they can be treated. Now imagine how I feel about applying that lens to entire demographics.
