We, here, can do basically nothing to support the people in Iran who took to the streets. And we can do basically nothing to bolster the regime that fucking massacred them. We can try and stop our government making things much much much worse. Why the fuck do we need to say anything else?

Like, in the UK now, it is probably possible to stop our government lending direct military support to the attack on Iran and it may be possible to stop indirect support. That's what we can do. That is the practical action. Why the fuck would we even argue about the Iranian government?

If you've ever met an adult lesbian who has a short haircut and a gender ambiguous name, you will know that queer cisgender kids do not need protecting from haircuts and preferred names.

But those children, the tiny number who because they are trans will only be happy being allowed to transition and grow up to be trans adults, have to be subjected to gatekeeping around FUCKING HAIRCUTS AND PREFERRED NAMES, in order to protect some cis queer kids from haircuts and preferred names.

Similar does exist in some other areas like efforts to train autistic children to mask, and historically efforts to train left handedness out of left handed kids.

*SOCIAL* (without medical intervention) trans gender expression during childhood seems to be an exceptional way in which children need to have their harmless and unique personality quirks suppressed for the greater good, and for the good of ideals of child psychology.
