Anti-effeminacy and homophobia—yes, the anti-androphilic kind—have been by far the most common flavor of lateral gender oppression I’ve experienced from other trans women. And it’s really hard to push back against it or even identify it because it gets erased and excused so much.

It's the politics of recognition game. Like how before #changethename became prioritized by Ntvs, the media would keep using the same tactics of addressing mascots. Like appeals to lateral violence, or framing the issue as a "debate" for all, rather than just flat out addressing ongoing genocide.

I think a lot of people who are starting to get that trans women and trans men can be equally oppressed in ways that aren’t always parallel are still not there yet with transhet people relative to LGB trans people but the same principle applies.

Those who are convinced really think drag was invented in 2009 and are quite frankly OVER-estimating its actual cultural impact. The specific problems I do have with it, as always, come down to cis people.

Nothing will convince me that resentment towards drag is somehow a necessary component of transfeminism

I think my problem with a lot of how transhets are imagined is the idea that cis society simply likes us better and so “awards” us legible transness. That’s not how oppression works. We’re more legibly trans because that’s useful to the gender system. It’s not a favor.
