My personal belief, and I think this held true, is that there is no way to court Trump voters by playing the Trump game. You cannot be meaner than Trump. You cannot be worse for immigration than Trump. You cannot be more divisive than Trump.

These two beliefs are at odds with each other. It cannot both be the case that our only solution is to court Trump voters and also that people who abstain from voting because of policy mismatch can cost you the election.

There are two beliefs that seem common among certain kinds of people. The first is that people on the left who voted third party or abstained cost Harris the election. The second is that in order to win the next election, we must pull Trump voters from his camp.

Knowing what we now know (and, *cough*, should have known) about what ICE wants and is willing to do? We need to call out that fucked-up border security bill for what it was: funding for fascism at our borders because we thought it would appease the fascists. And we need to stop doing that shit.
