Blogged it! Playing Marathon and thinking about the politics of killing. When is a choice really a choice? Can you "blame" another Rook for pulling the trigger? Rook kills Rook, Ape kills Ape. What if you... don't? Read at:

To kill is to die, yourself.
They say that the moment you conceive of the club is the moment you use it. Once you imagine a stick to be something other than a tool but potentially a weapon, you are moments away from smashing...

I can't stop thinking about Marathon today as Cryo drops. The sheer difference between a high level streamer and someone like me running Rook jobs looking for one more, just God please on more piece of Biostripping is *so* compelling. Those dudes are in SPACE?! I'm in a drainage pipe.

The suggestion/implication of like... "we should have waited, then we would have seen the prevailing thoughts on the tech and acted accordingly" is also, I think, cowardly! No man, you said what you said because you believed it. A respectable person would live with it.

For some reason, an inordinate number of Oscar nominees this year seem to be about the enormous difficulty of believing in a better world for your children's sake, while preparing them for the one they actually live in. Not sure why that theme would appeal right now.

Maybe I'm kirking out but the unreality of this war is wild. People posting that thousands of Kurds are fighting the regime for the CIA, while the Kurds say it isn't happening. Every video of a missile attack I just have to assume is AI whether it is real or not.

EEPHUS is a thing of wonder. I say that as one who doesnât care about baseball, has only bad memories of team sports, dislikes movies about swarms of men, & normally loathes the term âwonder.â Itâs William Kennedy, itâs Waiting for Godot. I think of Paul Hardingâs great novel of tick, tock, TINKERS.

He apparently figured out a lot of things in the moment, so a lot of it was learned instinct, but his use of color is so incredible that some of it has to be down to planning costumes, backgrounds, props then emphasizing color curves and contrast in film development. You don't accidentally do this:

Suda51 games are always a lot deeper thematically than people give them credit for because they do require a lot of effort from the player to piece together some of the stray bits into something coherent, but that makes it more annoying to me how dismissive people can be of their "weirdness"
