I get not liking Suda 51/Grasshopper’s games but it’s hard to play Romeo Is A Dead Man and not feel a little embarrassed by the lack of ambition and creativity in a lot of games just visually.

He apparently figured out a lot of things in the moment, so a lot of it was learned instinct, but his use of color is so incredible that some of it has to be down to planning costumes, backgrounds, props then emphasizing color curves and contrast in film development. Suda51 games are always a lot deeper thematically than people give them credit for because they do require a lot of effort from the player to piece together some of the stray bits into something coherent, but that makes it more annoying to me how dismissive people can be of their "weirdness"
