I’ll add onto this, as someone who has directly tried to help people solve this problem (with limited success) - We also can’t project our failed conversations we’ve had onto other people that we haven’t tried to have those conversations with. It’s hard, but real.

It’s a huge bummer to watch people use a lack of media literacy as a dismissive rejoinder instead of doing things to increase said media literacy. Just explain the thing that you think other people are missing, and then people can know!

So many people I know in the US are emotionally dysregulated (politically, how could you not be?) and their relationships are paying the price. It’s tough to watch so many of us take it out on each other, whether with friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, public figures, comment sections.
