Everyone is making jokes about this, but I actually agree. I've done visits with high schoolers and been shocked that so many of them struggle to handwrite their own names. It's not about cursive exclusively. It's about fine motor skills, which our kids are losing.

57 of my fellow students were arrested, academically disciplined, and barred from campus 2 weeks before finals. And then the visas of some of those students were quietly revoked. And then the DEI office was killed. And then we watched our mentors’ grants evaporate over “woke”.

Yep. The “my info is out there anyway” people need to shut up and sit down because A) that’s not the case for everyone and we don’t deserve to go down with the unbothered and B) every point of friction in a system designed for exploitation and abuse is tactically CRITICAL to hold onto

Oh no, Sam Kieth. I had the unbelievable good fortune to work with Sam early in my editorial career and was blown away by both his bottomless creativity and the depths of his kindness and gentle heart. I’ve never met a nicer person in this business.

Sam Kieth did not bend for comics. Comics bent to him. I won't call his manner of drawing merely a style because that implies some level of artifice. Maybe not since Kirby had mainstream comics seen an artist with less filter between his imagination and the printed page.

If there is going to be a reckoning about violence in progressive organizing spaces, we need to be prepared to hear survivors’ critiques of restorative justice. A lot of progressives think restorative justice is the only path forward, but it can be weaponized and co-opted just like other processes.

What struck me in teachers' stories was not just the volume of students using AI to cheat—this has already been well documented as a problem—but the rapid normalization of the practice, the *entitlement* so many students already feel to use AI, and the failure of institutions to deal with it.

It is the anniversary of the My Lai massacre today. I'd say that even more than most years, it's important to remember what happened. And the role Hugh Thompson, an active serviceman, played in both stopping and publicising it. Despite enormous military, political and public pressure to stay quiet.
