Media keeps describing Pretti as a “protester” - “why bring a gun to a protest” - but he was something much more akin to a community-based first responder for ICE sightings. He likely wasn’t expecting to get beaten in the street by them or have any violent encounter. Just observe and alert.

If I understand Pennsylvania law, if Fetterman resigns Shapiro can name a replacement. Not a huge fan of Shapiro, but I think he could choose an upgrade (low bar). Calling for his resignation is not unwarranted at this point.

Imagine how much they’d be lying about what happened without all the videos showing it from multiple angles.

And he didn’t. He tried to help a woman who’d just been assaulted. There was nothing rash, stupid, or radical about what he did. He showed kindness. And they killed him for it.

In about 20 seconds we see that Alex went from filming an ICE arrest, to helping a woman they shoved, then being maced, forced face down on the pavement with 6 agents on top him, shot dead, and called a domestic terrorist.

Nonviolence is, in fact, working. This administration is weaker than it was a year ago. More and more of the public is becoming galvanized against it; its agents are being impeded.

One thing that irks me: people keep calling the folks on the streets in Minneapolis protestors. They are not generally there to protest, they are there to observe and document. This is the product of organizing and mutual aid. It is telling that these acts of citizenship are seen as protest!
