I am wary of any politicians doing a victory lap today before we’ve seen on the ground that ICE has left. Their surety makes me think that they negotiated something and I think they owe it to us to be as transparent as possible about what that is.

The city has spent ~$5M above budget in the past month to deal with the occupation, with roughly $130k per day going to MPD overtime. So when mod CMs/the mayor tell you that we can’t afford rent relief, they’re telling you that they prefer to spend your tax dollars on this instead.

I’m on the scene at Franklin and 1st. A convoy of about a couple dozen ICE/HSI agents broke the entryway into an apartment building at 6am. No warrant presented. Less than 24 hours ago, Tom Homan announced the end of large convoys in Minnesota… Bullshit.

A thing that might not be clear from the outside is that while everyone here is engaged in this fight, ICE’s use of dystopian technology means that you essentially have to pick a lane between observing ICE and doing mutual aid. They are tracking observers’ cars, and taking pictures of their faces.

The City Council is also voting on an ordinance should the Governor call a state of emergency. A ton of Council Members were opposed to the resolution until the public showed up today and emailed in large numbers. The fight isn’t over. Ask your electeds to vote for the ordinance and to do more.

A dad not involved in protests was just trying to get his six children away from the danger and chaos ICE is unleashing on his Minneapolis neighborhood. ICE agents flash banged his vehicle injuring all six children, including a six month old baby. All were rushed to hospital by EMS.

Already heard from folks nearby that, even with windows and doors closed, tear gas is getting into nearby homes. Our fed govt is making our city less safe.
