>50% of the bifidobacteria had CRISPR-Cas systems. We linked the spacers in these systems to the prophages that we predicted earlier, with ~3/4 of the prophages targeted by spacers. In turn, we found that the prophages encoded a variety of anti-CRISPR and anti-defence system genes. (3/4)

Overall, this study paints a picture of a dynamic system between bifidobacteria and their phages where both have diversified their genomes in response to the other, showing evidence of arms-race dynamics. For much more analyses and info, go read the manuscript! (4/4)
