I'm disappointed and saddened tonight by the Algonquin College Board of Governors' decision to cut 30 critically important programs. Programs that led to employment, that built our community, that made our economy stronger. This goes way beyond Mr. Ford's "basket weaving" quip.

I will miss Renée Amilcar. She should be proud of her work to stabilize ridership and get Line 2 open, and her insistence on transparency, blunt talk, and the patience to explain the engineering without condescension. I will miss her unbridled enthusiasm for buses and trains and vision for transit.
