Hi everyone, I’m now visiting people who are going to the hairdressers in order to have hot water to wash their hair. Showers remain available at City facilities. That said, residents are encouraged to call the facility in advance to confirm, as access may be limited due to summer camp.

I have some very good news to share about the 417. Unless the weather interferes, all lanes of the 417 near Pinecrest will reopen in just over a week, on Monday, June 22. That’s more than five weeks ahead of the original timetable.

The City of Ottawa is inviting residents to participate in the Baseline-Merivale Secondary Plan and the Algonquin Secondary Plan with a special in-person public consultation on Monday, June 15th, between 7:00 and 8:30 at the Julian of Norwich Church, 7 Rossland Ave just off Merivale Rd.

Last fall, the Ontario Government banned Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) cameras, including in school zones. Through a new $210M Road Safety Initiatives Fund, Ottawa has applied for funding for new safety measures—including 4 sets of speed cushions near Bell HS and Our Lady of Peace School.

I keep thinking about one moment from last night's walk audit. Someone asked how disabled people deal with so much inaccessbility. Without missing a beat, a blind woman said, "I just don't go out. I stay home." When we ignore nondrivers we limit their mobility and cut off access to the world.
