From Wednesday, May 20, to Monday, May 25, there will be some environmental drilling work done at Pinecrest Recreational Complex and Park as part of a Phase Two Environmental Assessment at the site. Staff will be collecting shallow soil samples using hand-augering equipment at selected locations.

Happy Hot Asphalt Plant Day! What? Never heard of it? OK, it’s not real. But this is the week that the area’s hot asphalt producing plants come online and that’s actually kind of important. During much of the year, the City fills potholes and road cracks with cold asphalt.

Last fall, the City installed 2 borehole wells in Lisa Park as part of their groundwater monitoring. Those wells have now done their job and will be decommissioned. Expect some work in the park on June 4 during the day. Locates will be done May 20.

Inspired by artist Jaime Black, the red dress symbolizes the 1000s of missing/murdered Indigenous people, honour their spirits, and confront systemic violence.

OVERNIGHT ramp closures Part 2: Highway 417 westbound on-ramp from southbound Pinecrest will be closed on the nights of May 5 and 12 while crews install a gate. The closures will be implemented at 11:00 pm each night and will be lifted by 5:00 am the following morning.

Did you know that Ottawa is currently housing over 700 families with 503 kids under the age of 6? These are newcomer families, fleeing terror and violence, including many single moms with kids. And many of them are staying in hotels with a single room and no kitchen or laundry facilities.
