I remember when Unite told Jeremy Corbyn not to make John McDonnell shadow chancellor. They suggested Owen Smith or Angela Eagle instead! Corbyn rightly went ahead and appointed McDonnell, and Unite came around soon after. Burnham should appoint a Chancellor who shares his policy priorities.

Parties of the center-left can't convince people that they're not the parties of social liberalism essentially no matter what they do. If they try to "move to the center," they come across as fake while also bleeding from their base, and the combo just kills them.

He pretended to have political beliefs, the sole thing keeping him in the job was his ambition to be PM - hence his embarrassing attempt to cling on. The fact he was PM for a whole 2 years is an embarrassment to political journalism, the Labour Party, and the entire parliamentary system

What attracted voters to Burnham? Among voters overall, his strongest card was the chance to replace Starmer. But among the Burnham coalition, strikingly, the top pro-AB quality was his *platform on taking back control of public essentials*. Plus yes anti-Starmer angles.

Unarguably Reform’s worst night since General Election. 1) Barely any increase in their vote share in Makerfield. 20pt Labour win in a seat that was one of their best second places in 2024. 2) Tories show proof of life and even momentum in battle for the right with Aberdeen South win

Makerfield is the second highest turnout in a by election since 2000, and first time there’s been an increase in turnout from a general election in a by election since 1987.

As Donkey Kong 64 has been on Nintendo Switch Online for a little over a week, we have to ask: has anyone been playing it for the first time!? Many of us here look back on it fondly, and it's fun to see it being rediscovered (with every Kong individually) all these years later.

It's a bit crazy Crash N Sane sold over 20m and Spyro over 11m and sequels still had to seem like a battle to make happen Crash 4 is always treated like a financial failure and sold 5m+ which is better than pretty much any non-Nintendo platformer. More than Sonic Frontiers and over double Astro Bot

Anyway, I was disappointed by the Nintendo direct. Lots of third party support, but the only new Nintendo or partner studio games announced were Switch Sports, Xeno upgrade packs, and Ocarina. What are the billion Nintendo studios doing?

They have implemented challenges. Stuff akin to NES Remix (not the Remix kind, from what I can tell though). You cannot access them yet, you have to wait until the NSO app updates. I will not reveal the games, y'all will probably find out soon.

In Mario Party, minigame descriptions treat being eliminated merely as being out of the game, except for Bumper Balls, which drastically shifts the tone by stating the winner is the last one left alive. This implies that while other minigames might be for fun, Bumper Balls is to the death.
