The low Reynolds number of cytoplasmic flow which makes mixing hard. In poster 359 at the CellBio2025 meeting Sunday Dec 7, Ulises Diaz shows how giant cells leverage reversible actin gel assembly to drive rapid mixing of cytoplasm, faster even than "chaotic mixing" schemes.

🍀🔬 Unpublished data from the lab! The power of doing hardcore genetics, development, and cell biology using plant as model system! In the movie, you will see the primary root tip (magenta arrow) and lateral root (yellow arrow) coiling constantly in the same way over 3 days.

🧪 Hi protein interaction researchers, Quick question. When doing a bead binding assay, do you pre clear lysates with beads lacking the appropriate epitope prior to adding the affinity beads? I did this when we used to used inactivated staph rather than sepharose, but never with sepharose.

Seeing folks help backstop organizing workers this way is a big one for the “I do not regret to tell you that we are going to win” files. When I think about conditions we’d need to make smthg like a general strike possible—stories like this make me hopeful we’re building in the right direction.
