BREAKING NYT: Federal agents around the country were told in recent days that the FBI would no longer investigate confrontations with immigration agents â cases that sometimes yield evidence that could be used to prosecute DHS agents implicated in violent encounters.

Federal Agents Were Told FBI Will No Longer Investigate ICE Confrontations
Senior officials deny such a change is in the works, despite guidance shared with agents around the country in recent days.

Something that shouldn't need to be observed but apparently does is that the images and videos of Andrew Tate being put into handcuffs has instantly made being associated with him more scandalous for politicians even though the facts of the case haven't changed and he hasn't been convicted.

The Ohio Democratic party is censoring its own members from criticizing Amy Acton. This even includes the Pride Caucus chair who has to criticize her from their personal capacity. They've threatened to kick caucuses out that formally criticize Acton over her transphobic positions.

7. It would spread the idea, through a party that has so far remained a relatively stalwart opposition, that embracing transphobia is what winning requires. That result could be more disastrous for transgender people than any individual right-wing victory.

4. Now we know why. After prodding by Erin In The Morning, the caucus has revealed the answer: the Ohio Democratic Party itself demanded the criticism be removed, effectively barring those within the party from publicly critiquing a major candidate's transphobia.

There are at least as many American Jews who believe Israel has committed genocide as there are Jewish Republicans in the US. Which of these groups gets treated by American Jewish communal bodies as a tiny nonrepresentative fringe, and which one has major representation in these bodies?

This is ultimately the same story as the Kansas driver's license thing. The word of the United States government is simply no good if you are a member of a minority Republicans do not like. Lucy will pull the football. You can't live a stable life like this.

TBH I would also haven voted to end all taxpayer funded aid to Jordan because it's a shit hole monarchy that oppresses my people too, that being said, the main reason these 103 Democrats voted against it is because Jordan 1) doesn't kill children en masse and 2) actually listens to the US.

this is also why you can't appease the right on this issue. bans on trans people in sports are the camel's nose under the tent for the entire suite of right-wing gender politics, including but not limited to bans on gay marriage, abortion, and birth control

This is why, speaking as a reporter who has covered a lot of this stuff, I find it bizarre that a lot of the commentariat don't see where anti-trans stuff is going. Gaines et al are pretty clear about how they see sports as a way to win battles that bathroom stuff didn't like a decade ago.

Because it doesn't win over any actual voters you idiot. Look at Labour. They implemented a ban on gender affirming care for trans youth. They put in place section 28 for trans students and now they're implementing a nationwide bathroom ban. They've hemorrhaged support to the Greens and reform.

AGAIN: the #1 predictor of a mass shooter is violence against women. Cops perpetrate VAW at higher % (though exact # unknown ofc) than the gen population. At some point our culture must take seriously the fact that this is a real red flag. It requires hating women less, though.

Great example of NY Times sanewashing Trump. No, the issue is not clarifying which ships have made it through Hormuz. He was lying. The claim that oil was "flowing like never before" is false. At most, fewer than half the pre-war volume got out. One small example of a much larger phenomenon.
