I do always enjoy it when a Duplass Brother appears though. Why not, chuck one in. Was it Mark or Jay? That's like asking which Chuckle is Paul and which is Barry. It's irrelevant. To me. And to you.

Always good to have your response to a consultation immediately ready to go. Suggests you've definitely engaged with the results of the consultation and that the entire thing wasn't a waste of time.

Apropos of nothing, just something I think about a lot: During the worst pandemic in a century, lots of people told a bunch of outrageous lies that caused much, much more death. It was one of the more grotesque moral crimes I've ever witnessed & zero (0) of those involved faced any consequences.

Many predictions about AI are simply wishful thinking. "Now that AI is here, designers will have more time to focus on quality." Really? Is that what you see happening? Is that the trend, is that where the incentive structure is leading us?

Thinking through something over my morning reading. I know the Discourse now is to debate the applicability of the term “extraction” to everything. I think it works for a variety of reasons & am glad to keep it. BUT sometimes what authors want to call extraction is just good old fashioned extortion.

This is extremely cool. Guide Labs have trained an LLM that can tell you what part of the prompt was most relevant to each part of the output, what concepts it ties to each part of the output, and what part of its training data influenced the output.
