Great tips, and not just for games! I have witnessed AZERTY keyboards and decimal parsing destroy tooling & editors as well. Especially decimal parsing can be ridiculously finicky to catch. You will have no idea what to look for except your tool not working on someone else’s machine!

The genAI voices in ARC Raiders sounding stunted sometimes is in particular contrast to the absolutely insanely good sound design work. You can be underground in pipework, hear some sounds, and the whole squad will instantly know: Someone just threw a Wolfpack at a Rocketeer ontop of Control Tower.

I dislike the term “Best Practices.” I understand why folks ask for them, but they don’t exist. Think about the inverse: If there were best practices that would always work well, then all companies would be using them to always ship successful products. They don’t. They all fail sometimes.

My controversial take is that if you didn't get credited on a game you have proof you've worked on, just list it on your CV. I do with one. Never had any issues. Not being credited still sucks but you don't need to be polite when they're not.
