Yesterday I asked linus what he wanted to do this summer and he got excited and asked if we could have a summer routine. I said sure, what would you like the routine to be, and then he listed out his kindergarten daily schedule. So we're just gonna do that.

Last night, the Supreme Court ruled that the VRA cannot protect even against *intentionally* discriminatory voting policies When we say there is no federal statute remaining the enforce the 15th Amendment, this is what we mean

crazy that under the precedent set by callais, a lily-white congressional delegation formed by "partisan" gerrymandering in a plurality black state passes constitutional muster, while any majority-minority district is constitutionally suspect

Reason #146 why we need to get AI away from students: Today, my students did little review sheets i created. One section was about using context clues to figure out fake words that i mad made up. One kid copy/pasted each sentence into Google to ask the AI what the nonsense words meant

I'm considering going against my principles and signing the kids up for sports. But navigating these horrible local rec league registration websites is helping me stay strong in my convictions. What do you mean my 6yo is too old for T-ball because he turns 7 in August, which makes his "league age" 8

The kids in our county have to use this online math program called Math Space. It has an AI assistant built in for some reason. If you just spammed it with the word "yes" it will give you the answer, the kids discovered lol

Basically the con of being a Borrower (4" tall person with normal intelligence but proportionally smaller strength) is the cats eating you. The pro is when you steal pills you can get seriously fucked up for a long time.

I wore a dress and jean jacket to work today, and so did all the other teachers. That's pretty standard. We all love our jean jackets. Is this universal, or are teachers specifically really into jean jackets

is there a term for this thing that happens all the time now, where you type an input would have gotten the exact result you wanted from Google at any point from roughly 1999 until 2 months ago, but instead now prompts Google's AI bot to provide some other piece of information you don't want at all

At this year's music Pedagogy into Practice conference at UBC, I attended a keynote address on the subject of integrating AI into music education, from José Antonio Bowen. It was the most disappointed I have ever been during a keynote talk. At times, it was stomach-churning. Thread:

There are so many videos online of women deeeep in labor in the car. Like they're trying to hold that baby in until they pull up in front of the hospital. And I don't believe a one of them. Who is filming their wife while driving in that situation? Nope. Don't believe it.
