Registered Reports are created to improve confirmatory error controlled tests of predictions. Saying they are flatly stupid for exploration is about as insightful as saying a car is a flatly stupid solution to fly somewhere.

Great way to reduce the burden on reviewers/editors.

Today I woke up and made a dramatic decision: I'm going to preregister my next simulation study, even though I'm not yet sure the math adds up. To keep it interesting, I'll also keep a Git-tracked diary of everything: from failure to (hopefully) something useful in a year from now.

I've made an R package for Bayesian Rasch #psychometrics with brms models, easyRaschBayes (on CRAN), implementing simple functions to create figures and tables with model fit metrics, etc. Attaching figures from conditional item infit, item-restscore with GK gamma, and the log-likelihood criterion.

This looks like a paper every personality psychologist should have an opinion on. I've often defended broad factor models to cognitive scientists and economists who look at them askance because they are genuinely useful, but it's hard to argue that personality traits are common causes as modelled.

Survey research is often interpreted as showing that belief in conspiracy theories can be surprisingly widespread, including belief in conspiracy theories that would be astonishing if true. For example, in The Atlantic we learn that “12 million Americans believe lizard people run our country”

Important reminder why survey results examining the % of people who believe in conspiracies should not directly be interpreted as the % of people who believe in conspiracies. Respondents don't all answer seriously, so the news that 12 million people believe in lizard people is not accurate.
