All this was hard work by a large group of authors, I think in particular Julius Pfadt, @fbartos.bsky.social, and Henrik Godmann. My contribution was modest.

To complete the series, these are the results for preregistration. There are a few other fun results, such as the statistical models used to test the central hypotheses and the software used.

We also report predictions from a less constrained state space model that allows for non-monotonous time series. But that model has very little to go on, so the uncertainty is huge. My point here was to show the historical data more so than the predictions.

This is a five-parameter logistic growth curve model—these only go up. They are a common choice to model adoption of new products/innovations and market saturation. Personally, I think the predictions are probably optimistic, but time will tell. For comparison here are the Open Data results.

Probably a rhetorical questions, but I'll add the data anyway: We recently estimated—among other things—adoption of Bayesian analyses across different areas of psychology. The plots show the last 20 years and (rather simple) projections for the next 20 years. osf.io/preprints/ps...

I maintain that this is generally worthwhile for a few reasons: 1. You will almost always have to do this reformatting again, life is just like that 2. You will probably learn something from writing the code 3. Coding is fun, reformatting text by hand sucks
