How to best estimate Bayes factors for standard hypothesis tests? We compared bridge sampling and the Savage-Dickey density ratio. The latter does a good job in most constellations typical for experiments in cognitive psychology.

New work from members of the Cognition Lab Zurich! @chenyuli.bsky.social, @gidon-frischkorn.bsky.social & @koberauer.bsky.social tested whether information can be processed without entering working memory. Results suggest that processing brings even task-irrelevant information into working memory.

Two traditions in action control research - BRAC and procedural WM - often talk past each other. This latest review from members of our lab and colleagues from the BRAC community connects them conceptually and computationally, showing how procedural WM can reproduce key BRAC effects.

Good news for all those of us who plan to grow old: Some forms of learning do not decline in old age. Our new paper in Psychology and Aging shows equivalent learning rates in older and younger adults in chunk learning, tested through the Hebb repetition effect.
