Because of the increase in submissions due to AI, the peer review system will collapse. The AI flood is happening at different rates for different fields and subtitles, so you might be spared so far.

As the reviewer crisis (the shortage of peer reviewers) worsens, this unfortunately favors corporate publishers who have created hierarchical journal families (e.g. Nature->Nature Comms->Nature Comms Psych) that they use as a funnel, which includes passing on peer reviews, saving the authors time.

Facing yet another authentication barrier to do something in an online system, are we already almost in a two-tier system where humans have less access than certain "trusted" AI agents? Because as AI agents do more things, they'll have some privileged rapid access that humans no longer have.
