Incredible dataviz.

It's easy to produce spurious findings: A meaningless score based on irrelevant evaluations (“My relationship has very good Saturn”) was moderately related to common relationship measures (satisfaction, commitment) & predicted those measures 3 weeks later journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...

This post highlights how far behind the OSF is in usability and speed. The ResearchBox UI does seem clean, but why not use Zenodo directly (RB archives to Zenodo anyway.)

This episode reminded me of 2 things: 1. We know how & why the bootstrap works, but the fact that it does is just very cool. 2. Bayes. All that strapping (& which bias adjustment to choose) just goes away as unnecessary.

I built a DAG diagram with garden hoses for teaching. Pictured: a collider bias diagram, inspired by a blocked pipe situation I experienced (which I credit with giving me the intuition though it also ruined my belongings in the flooded cellar).

I remind you all that I have, thus far, not used my institutional access for any paywalled articles or books. I would rather the institution that I am studying at not support proprietary content publishers and instead invest in people (otherwise known as staff in HR speak).

I think this is pretty much a correct take on the negative sides of the preprint revolution, especially the rich get richer phenomenon. But I would shift the blame a bit since it's not my decision that a newspaper talks about my preprint in ways XYZ.

One comment that resonated with me was Andrew Gelman's in-class quip (heavily paraphrased from a dusty 10 year old memory) that it doesn't matter if I read a research finding in a report found on a bus or in a fancy journal. *Assuming* contents are real, the work stands on its own legs.
