I’m at the @improvingpsych.org online conference at a session about #PsyArXiv moderation, which switched from a post-moderation system (DOI assigned before moderation) to a pre-moderation system in 2025 for reasons that should be apparent on this plot.

Lazy AI slop shouldn't prevent us from sharing complete data fully openly for maximum reuse. Participants don't care if I solve my pet problem with their data but rather that the most "value" is derived from their efforts.

Huge new paper (with great data for further analyses) on replicability in psych just dropped.

To lead in open science efforts, we must engage in open science practices. These papers reporting on the reproducibility et al of science projects aren't even accessible. At least one of the commentaries was also closed access. This is a huge lost opportunity and sets a bad example to all.

Openalex is great but this number is probably hugely inflated. Eg all versions of zenodo repositories and OSF preprints appear as separate entities in OA search results.

My moderation shift. This was not sophisticated forgery but even with low effort it's child's play with LLMs to make something that looks like a real paper to a quick skim. And we don't go around accusing people without being sure. So I wasted a chunk of time on the first before I noticed the others

Why do people use double line spacing in their manuscripts? Is this for writing notes on printed papers? APA formatting thing? Aesthetic preference? This seems very psych-specific as e.g. any random paper on arxiv will be single-spaced.
