haven't kept up with all the border & tarriff bullshit but back when i was farming salmon, over 85% of my company's product was sold to the central US & honestly if you live in the middle of the continent, that's the absolute freshest salmon you're gonna get

i believe in sustainable aquaculture, & i think it's essential if we want a future with fish in it -- but i also believe that what the salmon-farming industry calls "sustainable" is actually not. if you choose to farm *predators* sustainably, you gotta make some much more difficult choices.

I think it's fine - kosher fish eat invertebrates, and chickens eat invertebrates or other small creatures, none of which are kosher. Salmon is kosher, farmed or otherwise.

Can any of my Jewish mutuals weigh in on this odd little question? Because i'm still wondering about it. Is a technically-kosher animal (salmon) still kosher if you *know* it was fed on pork byproducts? Where does farmed salmon fit in the kosher food rules, generally?

Trout meat :) I'm out of practice. i had one fish done before the muscle memory kicked in & reminded me i was doing it upside down this is nature's way of telling me to catch more fillet-size fish this year so i don't forget it's almost 8, so i think i'll cook these tomorrow
